Forest Therapy Immersion: You Want Me to Do WHAT?!
First - Take a deep breath, I’ve got you!
Next – Spend a few minutes reading about an amazing way to spend a couple of hours!
What’s in a Name?
Forest Therapy is one of the terms used to describe a practice that involves you and the rest of the natural world. It’s also known as Forest Bathing and Shrin-yoku. I’ve had people pushback on the idea of being in the forest, of doing therapy, and of walking. And while all of those words belong to this experience, it feels right to me to call it a Nature Immersion. Why Nature Immersion? I’m glad you asked. That’s literally what we do in this experience. We spend time fully and completely involved in nature.
Do I Have to Talk About Feelings?
Nope. This experience isn’t about your feelings per se. It’s a time of slowing down, acknowledging where we are, paying attention, sharing, receiving and giving. It’s about connection. Connection to non-humans, to other human beings and to self. And we have fun doing it! As a guide, I’m more interested in helping you open yourself to nature than I am in creating an emotional experience for you. If you have one – great! If you don’t – great!
Are We Going to Be in the Woods?!
Sometimes we’re in a state park, other times we’re right off the main road at a kayak park, and sometimes it even happens in a backyard! Wherever there are green spaces, this experience can happen. I have my favorite spots, but I try to immerse myself anytime I’m outdoors. It can be a matter of seconds or a good half-hour or more. I take my moments where I can find (or create) them.
Why Does it Take So Long?
Hmm. Have you ever been doing something and before you knew it more time than you thought had passed? That’s what usually happens when we’re in a Nature Immersion. I often have people say that it went by fast. I’ve actually had people comment that they wish they’d had more time!
If You Try it Once, You’ll Want to Do it Again.
Join us to reconnect with nature and yourself! You deserve to experience the good things that nature has to offer you. You might even find yourself wanting to give something back in return. Either way, we look forward to connecting with you in the near future
