Gratitude for My First Ever Vegetable Garden
What a joyful, rewarding, surprising experience.
Thank you, creation. Thank you, sunshine. Thank you, rain. Thank you, cool breezes. Thank you, butterflies and bees and bugs. Thank you, soil. Thank you, compost. Thank you, Sally for guarding our garden. Thank you for the humans who contributed -- from the preparation of the bed to its maintenance. And also for protecting it (you know who you are and what you did ๐). Thank you to my human neighbors and the consultants who gave me advice and shared their wisdom. Who opened their hearts to help me have this beautiful adventure where I got to cooperate and partner with the rest of nature.
Thank you, squash and zucchini and peppers and okra and cucumbers and watermelon and tomatoes. Thank you birds for planting tomato plants wherever you felt like it and giving us a beautiful and delicious surprise. Thank you for the ratatouille and squash casserole and zucchini chips and soup. For the parsley for shrimp scampi and the mint for refreshing iced tea when it was almost 100 degrees outside. Thank you rosemary and thyme for the flavor. Thank you pumpkins that have appeared out of nowhere and that we're looking forward to harvesting in a few months.
I can't wait to do this again and incorporate the wisdom that I have gained as I have allowed myself to be taught and nurtured by the rest of nature.
What a journey. What a joy. See you in the Fall.
